Barbara Ducklo Obituary

Barbara ("Babs") Mallicote Ducklo passed away on September 27, 2025 after a lengthy illness. A native Memphian, Babs was born on December 11, 1944 to Barbara Asher and Thomas Mallicote. She attended Grahamwood Elementary, White Station High School and the University of Tennessee. Upon graduation from UT, Babs returned home to Memphis to teach elementary school. She soon met Dr. Robert L. Ducklo, Jr., they married in 1968 and settled in Memphis where they raised their two sons.

Babs' life was defined by her faith, her family and her friends. She and her sister Suzy were raised in a loving household and throughout her life. Babs remained close with her parents and sister as well as her many aunts, uncles and cousins in east Tennessee and southeastern Kentucky. She and Bob were faithful attendants of the Chapel Sunday School Class at Second Presbyterian Church for decades.

A naturally social person, Babs had many friends from childhood to college to adulthood. She was a member of the Junior League of Memphis and the LeBonheur Club, volunteered at the Woman's Exchange and worked part time for many years at the Stein Mart Boutique. Additionally, Babs belonged to a number of semi-formal and informal groups throughout her life, many of which revolved around eating lunch with her friends. These included bridge clubs, sewing groups, tennis groups, lunch bunch, investment club and the VRWC. Babs often commented on how grateful she was to have such good friends.

Babs was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 56 years, Bob Ducklo. She is survived by sons Robert and Matt (Nia) and grandsons Thomas and Noli. She is also survived by her sister Suzy Lowry (Raymond) of Morristown, Tennessee. The family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Versie Hughes, Stephanie Morris, Tina Griffin and LaToya Martin, for their kindness and help over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Chapel Class at Second Presbyterian Church or the charity of their choice.
