Barbara A. Duffner, 88 of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at her home. She was born February 5, 1936 in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late Howard Murray and Elizabeth (Lipsie) Murray. She belonged to the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville. Barbara was a US Air Force Veteran. She had worked as a registered nurse in various hospitals in the area. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching movies and watching her PBS in her spare time. She also enjoyed travelling and had an unusual affection for ice cream, as well as a connoisseur for excellent chocolates. Her life was spent in service to others. Her patients, neighbors, family and children all looked to her, and depended on her for her nursing care along with her love and support. She gave her all to her loved ones and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Michael Garmon & wife, Nancy, Jeanette, PA; Elizabeth "Bette" Garmon, Murrysville, PA; Laura Garmon & partner, Eric Kok, Greensburg, PA; Matthew Garmon, Blairsville, PA and Robert Garmon, Charleroi, PA; grandchildren: Dain Garmon & wife, Adrienne, Leah Garmon, Anna Barbara Sabilla, Kevin Garmon & Brooke Garmon; great grandchildren: Nicana, Aiyana, Romeo, Julian & Ryan and also her siblings: Patricia Taylor, Durham, NC, Howard Murray and wife Nita, Blairsville, PA, Dr. Michael Murray and wife, Jennifer, Carmel, IN & sister-in-law- Bonnie Murray, Johnstown, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Duffner and brothers, Thomas & Joseph Murray.
The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 6PM to 8PM. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10AM. Fr. Segundino Laude will officiate. Interment will be held in the SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Action for Animals, 386 Rt. 217, Latrobe, PA 15650.
