Cynthia "Cindy" Lynn (Craze) Duffner, age 66, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Born on February 5, 1958, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Earnest "Ernie" and Elizabeth (Jamison) Craze. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Cindy's life was a testament to hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering love and dedication to her family.
For 15 years, she worked as a school bus driver for the Ontario School District, ensuring the safety and well-being of the students she cared for. But her true passion was her family-her two sons, Ernie Surber of Ocean Springs, MS, and Christopher "Mark" Surber of Granger, IN. Her boys were her pride and joy. She never missed a game, supporting them wholeheartedly in everything they did, working tirelessly to ensure her boys could pursue their love of sports. She carried that same love for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, loving each of them like they were her own.
Cindy was a woman of great strength, determination, and very independent. She was a fighter, stubborn as it gets, often refusing help so as to not burden anyone as she bravely battled cancer, convinced she could win the fight.
Later in her life her faith became an important part of her journey, choosing to receive Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Soon after, she was baptized by her brother, a cherished moment of profound joy for the family. The family rejoices that she now sees her Savior "face to face".
In her free time, Cindy loved being with her siblings, especially during camping trips where she found joy in fishing and camp-fire conversations simply being surrounded by those she loved. She was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns (even through the losses), and never missed an episode of Law & Order or The Game Show Network.
She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hard work, and a deep love for her family. Cindy is survived by sons, Ernie (Chontee) Surber and Mark (Amanda) Surber; her cherished grandchildren Mikayla, Bryson, Kailie, Braylon, Kalea, Makai, Grace, Tess, Isaiah, Elliott, Olive, great-grandson Zavier, and her devoted siblings, Cathy Craze, Carolyn Furry, Carla (Greg) Newman, Ernie (Jada) Craze.
Cindy's family would like to express their deep gratitude for all who cared for her in her final days. The nursing and hospice staff at Mansfield Ohio Health along with several members of the family, especially her sister Cathy who made significant sacrifices throughout the journey, all loved her so well to the very end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Elizabeth Craze.
Family and friends are invited to gather for her memorial service at Crossroads-Ontario Campus (636 Lexington Springmill Rd South) on Thursday, February 6, 2025 beginning at 11 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario Boosters Club supporting youth athletics.
