Duane Getz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel on Jan. 29, 2026.
Duane Charles "Bud" Getz, age 93, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on January 23th at Primrose Retirement Community in Mansfield, Ohio.

Born on April 10, 1932, Bud graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and later served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home to Mansfield, he married the love of his life, Martha "Jeanne" Getz, with whom he shared a lifelong partnership grounded in faith, devotion, and family.

Bud was a gifted builder and entrepreneur, founding a custom home construction business that shaped much of the Woodland and Ranchwood neighborhoods. He also developed and managed apartments, office buildings, shopping centers, and established a building supply business and hardware store. Yet, Duane would say his greatest and most meaningful work was not in buildings of wood and stone, but in building God's Kingdom.

A devoted member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Bud faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and supervisor, lay minister and church builder. He poured his life into teaching God's Word, encouraging believers, and sharing the love of Christ. Bud was a lifelong follower of Jesus, known for his humility, generosity, steadfast faith, and deep love for Scripture.

In his later years, Bud often spoke with joyful anticipation of seeing his Savior face to face and being reunited with his beloved wife. His life stands as a testimony to faithful service, Christian character, and unwavering hope in God's promises,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hermine Getz, his wife Martha "Jeanne" Getz, his brother David Getz, and his sister Luella Freund.

He is survived by his sister Mary Lou Zeug, and brother Tom Getz; his three sons and their families, Timothy and Alison Getz of Dublin, Ohio, Bradley and Ana Getz of Dublin, Ohio and Jonathon and Jenny Getz of Avon Connecticut; his grandchildren, Ryan Getz, Holly Leonard, Cristina Getz, Sydney Phillips, Tyler Getz, Sierra Getz, Nathan Getz, Alden Getz, and Jared Getz; and his great-grandchildren, Charles and Graham Leonard, and Oliver and Milo Phillips.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

1 Corinthians 2:9
