Jacquelyn Ruth Getz

Jacquelyn Ruth Getz, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on January 19, 2026. Jackie was born on March 17, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John and Betty Van Vlymen.

In 1969, Jackie married Dennis Getz, and together they shared 52 loving years of marriage. Dennis preceded her in death in 2021.

After completing her schooling, Jackie worked as a legal secretary and office work at home. However, her true calling and greatest joy was her home. As a devoted stay-at-home mother, she poured her heart into nurturing and caring for her husband and sons. Jackie never missed a special event and was always ready with a warm smile and a big hug.

Jackie had a deep love for animals. She raised and rode horses, faithfully fed her "chunky" squirrels, and opened her home and heart to many rescued animals over the years. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed coloring and doing puzzles.

Jackie's love for the Lord was evident in her daily life and strong morals. She was a faithful member of Bethel Church in Crown Point and cherished her church family. Above all, Jackie treasured her family-her sons, their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her "Six in the Saddle" horse group.

She is survived by her sons, Keith (Jenn) Getz and Kevin Getz; grandchildren, Norah, Evelyn, Zachary, Kelsey (Chad), and Jocelyn (Quentin); and great-grandchildren, Cohen, Mabel, Max, Eliana, Rosalie, and Ayla. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Van Vlymen and Drew (Margaret) Van Vlymen; sister-in-law, Corrie Van Vlymen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jackie also leaves behind her beloved cats, KiKi, Max, and Millie.

Awaiting Jackie in Heaven are her beloved husband, Dennis, and her brother, Doug.

A visitation will be held at Jackson Funeral Service in DeMotte, Indiana, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to return on Wednesday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at DeMotte Cemetery. Pastor Steve DeWitt will officiate.
