Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alexander Funeral Home, Inc. - Millersburg on Feb. 12, 2026.
Heather Darr, 50, passed away on February 11, 2026.
She was born on October 24, 1975, in Millersburg, to William and Karen Butler, who survive.
Heather was a 1997 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Following graduation, she worked at Lynn Hope Industries and Midwest Health Services. She loved going to the workshop and enjoyed the friendships she built with her peers and staff over the years.
Heather lived life with enthusiasm and adventure. She loved being outdoors, fishing, and spending time on the boat. She loved riding coasters at Cedar Point or Kings Island, and the Scrambler, or the Fun Slide at the fair. She enjoyed motorcycle rides in the sidecar with her dad and sitting poolside with her family in the summer. She embraced every opportunity for fun and never allowed her physical limitations to stand in the way of living a full and adventurous life.
She was a champion bowler and track athlete in the Special Olympics. She proudly competed for many years. The Summer Games at The Ohio State University were among her favorite memories, especially staying overnight and partying with her fellow athletes.
Heather was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and took great joy and pain in cheering them on each season. She especially loved giving Steelers fans a hard time whenever she could. She had a quick sense of humor, loved a good prank, and you could always count on her for a laugh. Karaoke was another favorite pastime. She sang with complete confidence, even when she didn't know the words.
She enjoyed playing cards, coloring, and most of all, spending time with her family. Heather adored her niece and nephews, Brady, London, and Easton, and was their biggest fan. She especially loved listening to Brady play his trumpet, cheering on London and the Waynedale Golden Bears, and watching Easton swing for the fences. They adored their Aunt Heather right back. The bond they shared was unbreakable.
In addition to her parents, Heather is survived by her sister, Rachel (Josh) Summers; her beloved niece and nephews, Brady, London, and Easton Summers; several aunts and uncles; and a community of friends who became family over the years. From her childhood days in Killbuck, relentlessly tormenting her neighbor Tammie, to her peers and staff at Lynn Hope Industries and Midwest Health Services, her Special Olympics coaches and teammates, her healthcare providers, and the roommates and staff who cared for her in her apartment, the list of those who loved Heather is long. We are all left heartbroken and will miss her tremendously.
Heather touched countless lives throughout the years. She faced a long history of health challenges with remarkable courage and strength. She was a fighter in every sense of the word, resilient, determined, and unbelievably brave. Even in her hardest moments, she remained positive, cracking jokes and making others smile right up to the very end. Her life was an inspiration to all who knew her. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is free from pain, walking peacefully with her Creator.
In honor of Heather and the joy she brought to so many, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to A Night to Shine (Night to Shine) through the Tim Tebow Foundation, helping continue the celebration and support of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17th, at Alexander Funeral Home, with Pastor Frank Kruta officiating. Burial will follow at Killbuck Cemetery, Killbuck Ohio. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 16th, at the funeral home. In honor of Heather's passion for her favorite team, guests are encouraged to wear Browns apparel.
