Raymond Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Home, Bellville Butler Chapel on Feb. 5, 2026.
Raymond Lee Jones, age 99, of Bellville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Country Meadow Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with his loving family by his side. Raymond was born in Perry, Missouri on December 3, 1926 to the late Jessie & Mendia Damron Jones.

As a child, Raymond lived in Kentucky as well as Ohio. He was a 1945 graduate of Sycamore High School in Cincinnati. Immediately after graduation, Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country as a typist during World War II. At the conclusion of his military service he immediately went to work as a tool and die foreman for General Electric in Cincinnati. On October 9, 1948 he married Anna Coffey at a lovely ceremony in Lockland, Ohio. Raymond and Anna had a wonderful married life that lasted almost 78 years. During his tenure at G.E., Raymond also built homes with his brother and father-in-law in and around the Kenwood area of the city. He then went to work and retired from General Motors after 20 plus years of dedicated service as a tool and die foreman.

As dedicated to his career as he was, he was even more dedicated to his family. If you ask his loving wife or his children, they would say Raymond had a very loving nature. He was quiet, patient and very easy going. He did like to relax a little bit after retirement. You could usually find him woodworking in his barn during the warmer months or in his basement shop when it was cold outside. His Arabian horses and the great outdoors were of interest to Raymond, he loved to do most everything outside except camping and boating. He would joke and say he could enjoy the outdoors during the day, but there was no need to sleep outside. Raymond was a strong Christian and founding member of Clear Fork Alliance Church in Bellville.

He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife, Anna Jones; his sons, Ronald (Kathy) Jones and Dr. Dan (Lucy) Jones; his grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Jones, Dan (Gretchen) Jones, Dr. Brittany (Dr. Ian) Potter, Dr. Joshua (Abbi) Jones and Brad Jones; his brothers, Doug Jones and Bill Jones. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and several extended family members. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Jones, Opal Madden, Jessie Jones, Jr., Theda Hudson and Don Jones.

A service to honor Raymond's life and faith will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, February 14, 2026 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Michael Stine will officiate. Friends may call from 11:00 am Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home. Due to inclement weather, committal prayers and military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard will be offered at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service. A private burial will take place in the Bellville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clear Fork Alliance Church or Country Meadow Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
