Eugene Mollohan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Home, Bellville Butler Chapel on Mar. 17, 2026.
Eugene "Gene" Mollohan, 87, of Bellville, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following complications from a heart attack.

Born December 28, 1938, in Charleston, West Virginia, Gene was the son of the late Otis Elmer and Malinda (Green) Mollohan. A man defined by his kindness and easygoing nature, Gene lived a life rooted in hard work, faith, and genuine connection with others.

On December 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Helen Spears. Together they built a family and shared many cherished years before her passing in 2007. Gene worked diligently for over 20 years at The Flexible Company and later at G.I. Plastics, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.

A faithful member of Honey Creek Baptist Church, Gene also gave generously of his time volunteering at the Butler Adult Life Center, where he dedicated countless days to serving and strengthening the community he loved.

An outdoorsman at heart, Gene found joy in fishing, hunting small game, and searching the woods for mushrooms and ginseng. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. More than anything, Gene will be remembered for his warmth-he never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

He is survived by his children, Christopher (Deb) Mollohan, Kim (Oliver) Rister, and Mark (Annette) Mollohan; grandchildren, Helen Mollohan and Amanda Lemaster; great-grandson, Waylon; sister, Glady Cottrell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Helen Mollohan, 2nd wife, Nora Carpenter Mollohan; and twelve siblings.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the sanctuary of Honey Creek Baptist Church, 294 Honey Creek Road East, Bellville, Ohio 44813, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Pastor Paul Staton will officiate. Gene will be laid to rest in Bunkerhill Cemetery.

The Snyder Funeral Home in Bellville is honored to assist the family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses. Checks may be made payable to Snyder Funeral Homes.
