Greg Donnelly

Greg Donnelly, 56, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on March 16, 2026 in Florida, while working.

Greg was born March 13, 1970 in Columbus and graduated from Olentangy High School where he wrestled and played soccer.

Following graduation, Greg joined the NAVY, proudly serving his country.

He loved all things racing and worked for Mid Ohio Sports Car Course where he maintained numerous friendships.

Greg found his dream job, working for Stepp's Safety and Recovery Team, as part of a NASCAR towing crew, traveling the country from track to track. It was work he truly loved and took pride in, and he quickly became a familiar and respected presence in the racing community.

Wherever the circuit went, Greg built connections. At every track, there were people who knew him-people who had worked alongside him, shared long days and late nights, and came to appreciate the kind of person he was. He had an easygoing nature, an infectious smile, and a way of talking to anyone that made people feel like they'd known him for years.

Greg's impact reached far beyond any one place. He will be remembered across the country by the many people who were lucky enough to know him, work alongside him, and call him a friend-something he seemed to make everywhere he went.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Donnelly; his grandchildren, Nolan, Logan, and Rilyn; his parents, Barb and John McCammon; sister Kristine Shriver; Sonya Donnelly, niece Maylin Donnelly; uncle Gary (Sheryl) Knapp; aunt Karen McPherson; cousins Sarrah (Bryan) Muroski and Erinn (Marc) Frazer and their kids Mason, Taylor, and Aiden; as well as Neil Donnelly.

He was preceded in death by his brother Scott Donnelly and grandparents Bob and Lucille Knapp.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 4-7 pm in the Snyder Funeral Home Bellville-Butler Chapel where his funeral will be Wednesday at 11am. Burial will follow in Perry Township Cemetery.

Greg's final lap will take place at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course-a fitting tribute to a man who truly belonged at the track.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary or the Jefferson Township/Bellville Rescue Squad.
