Mindy Duffner was born in Akron, Ohio on November 26, 1953 to Florence and Harry Podolny. After high school, Mindy went to Kent State University where she graduated with a teaching degree. She then received her Master's degree from Ashland University.
Her teaching career at Loudonville, Madison, and the College Now program at NCTC spanned 43 years. During this time she had the opportunity to mentor, support, and teach thousands of students, many of whom she remained in contact with long after they had been her students.
Mindy approached life actively. She enjoyed swimming, jogging, hiking, playing cards, mahjong, and spending time with family and friends.
She embraced her role as Grandma Mindy. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed going to as many sporting and extracurricular events as she could crowd into her busy schedule.
During the past 4 years Mindy spent much of her time with her best friend and significant other Mike Erlichman. Together they enjoyed traveling and enjoying life. This happiness radiated throughout her very soul.
Surviving are her children: Brandon (Rebekah) Duffner, Amanda (Josh) Mottayaw; her sister Eileen (Les) Sherman; her brother Gary (Lois) Podolny; grandchildren Brylyn, Eli, Tatum, and Harper.
Mindy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Duffner Jr., and brother-in-law Tod Duffner.
There will be a Service of Remembrance on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home (350 Marion Ave., Mansfield, OH) at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at Emmanuel Jacob Congregation (973 Larchwood Rd., Mansfield, OH) at approximately 2:30pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
