Barbara George (nee Eldridge), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Barbara was the devoted wife of Alan George for 58 years. She was a loving mother to Carol (John) Swan and Sarah (Justin) Brown, and a cherished grandmother to Emily (David) Hurtado, Sally Swan, Samuel Brown, and Emma Brown. She was the dear sister of Charles (Pat) Eldridge of Winston Salem, NC, and sister-in-law to Gary (Andrea) George.

Born on June 28, 1944, Barbara was raised in Ottawa, Illinois. to father, Dr. John G. Eldridge, and her mother, Carol Boedeker Eldridge. Her grandparents were Edgar T. and Iva Eldridge of Newton, KS, and Charles H. and Emma Boedeker of Webster Groves, MO.

Barbara was baptized and later married in the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, IL. She adored her charming hometown and maintained close friendships with many classmates, always looking forward to high school reunions.

Barbara graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1962 and William Woods College, Fulton, MO, in 1966 with a B.S. in Education, where she was a founding member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Barbara was deeply involved in the Kirkwood community, serving on PTA boards and as chapter president of PEO. She was active in many Bible studies, as a group leader for Bible Study Fellowship and Twin Oaks Women's studies. She also served on the Twin Oaks school board, and was active in the St. Louis Junior League and the Missouri Historical Society. She was an avid reader and loved to travel the world, play bridge and tennis.

Barbara's life in Kirkwood was filled with love, faith, and friendship, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, 1230 Big Bend Rd, Ballwin, MO 63021, Friday January 9 at 3:30 pm followed by a service at 4:30 pm. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Study Fellowship (http://www.bsfinternational.org) or Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, http://www.twinoakschurch.org.
