Alice Wright

1941 - 2026

Alice "Friz" Wright passed peacefully on Feb 1st , surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit.

Friz was born February 5, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan, where she enjoyed a blessed childhood. Known for her boundless energy and contagious smile, she shone as a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen in high school, remembered especially for her perfect cartwheels and the joy she brought to everyone around her.

She met the love of her life, Bill Wright, in Fulton, Missouri, while attending William Woods College. The two married on March 4, 1962, beginning a lifetime of adventure together. Friz followed Bill across the country, and in every community, they called home, she poured herself into volunteering at church and in the community.

When they eventually settled in Savannah, Georgia, Friz found her spiritual home at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where her volunteer work flourished. She designed the Memorial Gardens, co-led the church's annual plant sale fundraiser alongside Bill, served faithfully in the Altar Guild, and organized fundraisers for Savannah's inner-city schools to ensure every child had a school uniform. Beyond the church, Friz also led the Ways and Means Committee for P.E.O Chapter BB, where in 2014 she helped establish the annual plant sale-now the organization's largest fundraiser-supporting college scholarships and loans for women, including those returning to the workforce. Her kindness, leadership, and creativity touched countless lives.

Friz is survived by her children – Hank (Sarah), Laura (John), and Darren (Allison) – and her beloved grandchildren – Hailey, Trevor, Emily, William, and Mary Ann – as well as her dear brother, Walter Frisbie, of Michigan. She now joins her beloved Bill in eternal rest, reunited after a lifetime of love and partnership.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined in the Spring, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 3 Westridge Road, Skidaway Island, where she will be inurned in the Memorial Garden she lovingly helped create.
