Darryl Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Feb. 2, 2026.
Darryl "Buddy" Lynn Wright, a lifelong resident of Tallahassee, Florida, was born on April 3, 1955, and passed away on February 1, 2026.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Phroncine Wright, and his sister, Janet Wright Lewis.

Buddy found comfort in quiet moments and familiar routines, and he enjoyed the simple things that brought him happiness. Music was especially important to him. He loved all types of music, with classic country holding a special place in his heart-an appreciation shaped by many family RV trips to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry. Music often brought him a sense of peace.

Buddy was also a devoted movie fan who could happily talk about action films, favorite scenes, and actors. His love of movies led him to work for many years as a ticket taker at the Governor Square movie theater, a role he enjoyed and took great pride in.

He enjoyed dancing and moving to music in his own way and especially cherished family weekends to Venture Out in Panama City Beach, where he enjoyed time by the Gulf and being with those who loved him. And Buddy never passed up a Chick-fil-A milkshake, a favorite that always made his day a little brighter.

Buddy will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of music and movies, and the special place he holds in the hearts of his family. His memory lives on in favorite songs, shared stories, and quiet moments of remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Night to Shine Tallahassee, a ministry of the Tim Tebow Foundation, in honor of Buddy's memory.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, at Bevis Funeral Home. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. (www.bevisfh.com or 850-385-2193)
