Barbara Ann Ellison, age 85, of Rockford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025 under the loving care of her sons and Corewell Health Hospice.
The daughter of John Henry & Rose Ann (Whalen) Taylor, she was born on October 26, 1940, in Big Rapids, Michigan and after graduating from high school, she married Keith E. Ellison on June 20, 1959 in Paris, Michigan.
Together they raised two sons and made their home in Paris, Michigan, until their careers took them to Florida and then Rockford. They then made their home at Scram Lake, where Barbara enjoyed her daily walks (year-round) around the lake. She also delighted in time spent with her family, especially her sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 60 years, Keith Ellison on May 20, 2020’ a sister, Betty Spencer; and a brother, Johnny Taylor.
Surviving are her two sons, Rex & Catherine Ellison of New Mexico, and Steve & Trish Ellison of Brighton; four grandchildren, Ryan Ellison, Sarah & Michael Williams, Anna Ellison, and James Ellison; a great-granddaughter, Demi Williams; four sisters, Mary Jaques, Theresa & Ken Robbins, Pam Allen, and Pat & Roger Rehkopf; siblings-in-law, Gerald & Emma Ellison, and Carole Littlefield; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring her wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers or memorials, Barbara Ann’s family asks that everyone find that kind soul inside themselves and make a positive difference for their remaining days here on earth at every opportunity.
