Woodgate - Barbara Anne (Webster) Ferris, 81, passed away on June 2, 2022 after a brief illness at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica.
She was born on September 3, 1940 at White's Maternity Home, Boonville a daughter of George and Hilda Pfendler Webster. Barbara graduated from Boonville Central School. She attended Albany Business College and earned a one-year Business & Accounting Certificate which prepared her for employment as a book keeper at Band Box Cleaners and Oneida National Bank in Boonville.
Barbara married Dale Kenneth Ferris on September 5, 1959 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boonville. This union lasted for 52 years until Dale's death on May 5, 2012. Once their children came along, Barbara became a stay- at- home mom, a job she felt blessed to have. She also helped Dale with the bookkeeping side of his work as a Prudential Insurance Agent. In their retirement years, they persued their common interest in antiques by opening Creekside Gifts & Antiques in Woodgate, NY in 1986, and running their business for the next 25 years.
Barb was a charter member of the Boonville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a Life Member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Oneida County Volunteer Firemen's Association. She also belonged to the Charles J. Love, DSC Post 406 American Legion Auxiliary, and in 2007 became the treasure for the Boonville Black River Canal Museum Board of Trustees.
She is survived by two children, Laura (Rich) Czajka and Michael Ferris; two grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) Pietraszewski and Adam (Melissa) Czajka; one step grandson, Corby (Sara) Czajka; three great-grandchildren, Finley Dale and Odin Richard Czajka and Natalie Anne Pietraszewski; two step great grandchildren, Brandan and Riley Czajka; her brother and sister-in-law, George "Buddy" and Donna Webster and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend of 72 years, MaryJane "Myrt" (Richard) Ulrich. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Dale, her parents George and Hilda (Pfendler) Webster, her brother Philip Webster and one niece.
There will be a funeral mass at Christ Our Hope, St. Joseph's Parish in Boonville on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Boonville Black River Canal Museum, P.O. Box 122, Boonville, NY 13309 and the Adirondack Community Chorus, c/o Robert Jones, 103 ½ Belle Isles Pl, Boonville, NY 13309.
Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon following the funeral at the Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Boonville. Donations of food may be brought to the American Legion after 9:00 a.m. Friday. Mills Funeral Home, Boonville is entrusted with the arrangements.
