Barbara A "Bertsch" Filosa

Barbara A. Filosa, 89, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Michael "Mike" Filosa, who predeceased her in 2019, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Born and raised in Oswego, New York, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Frederick and Bessie (Price) Bertsch. She later moved to Hartford, where fate brought her together with her one true love, Michael. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, eventually settling in Enfield, where Barbara resided for more than 25 years.

Barbara dedicated 37 years of her professional life to Manchester Memorial Hospital, where she worked in IT Data Control. Known for her strong work ethic and reliability, she formed lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues throughout her long career.

A woman of deep faith and community spirit, Barbara was a longtime member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society Women's Auxiliary. Above all else, she was devoted to her family. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her loved ones-especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren-creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Barbara is lovingly survived by her daughter, Maryann Nielsen and her husband, Bruce, of Broad Brook; her four grandchildren, Nicholas Colarusso and his wife, Kelli, of Concord, NH; Dominic Colarusso and his fiancée, Amanda, of Manchester; Michael Ryan and his wife, Kathy, of Enfield; and Kevin Ryan and his wife, Cassandra, of Camarillo, California. She also leaves her son-in-law Tim Ryan of Ellington and her two step-granddaughters, Kristen Nielsen and her husband Dominic of Old Lyme, and Megan Nielsen and her fiancée Jared of Ellington. Barbara also leaves her 8 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews who will remember her with great affection. Barbara was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Ryan.

Family and friends may gather for visitation on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
