Barbara Louise (Benoit) Flood, 72, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of David O. Flood for 41 years.

Barbara was born on January 9, 1952 in Burlington, VT, one of eight children, to the late Gene and Carrie May (Carpenter) Benoit. She moved to Meriden with her family and graduated from Maloney High School.

Barbara worked as a Nuclear Records clerk at Northeast Utilities for many years and eventually retired from The Hartford. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies and collecting dolls. She was also an avid Elvis fan. Family was most important to Barbara and she will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband David, Barbara is survived by her daughter, Ann-Marie Salvatore of Plantsville and two sons, Jason D. Flood and wife Jessica Reis and William S. Flood, both of Southington and 3 grandchildren: Hunter, Kylie and Reagan Salvatore. She is also survived by six siblings: Joann Benoit, James Benoit (Deborah) and Bernard Benoit, all of Meriden, Betty Bernier (Phillip) of Tennessee, Bonnie DiGiovanni (Robert) of Louisiana and Jon Benoit of Wallingford, as well as her brother-in-law, William Gardner of New York and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by one sister, Judith Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family requests that you plant a memorial tree in her honor or make a memorial donation to the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/).

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. with a short prayer service beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
