Barbara Fredrickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home & Crematory on Dec. 23, 2025.
Barbara J. Fredrickson, 95, of Highland Park, IL, passed away on December 20, 2025. She is survived by her nephews, Eddie Fredrickson and Michael Sutter, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews: Cassie, Taylor, Carmen, Tory, Peggy, Michael, and Laura. She was also a cherished great-aunt to Maxwell, Mikala, Soraya, Jysona, and Stephen.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ragnar and Hulda Fredrickson; her brothers, Arthur, Phillip, and Stanley; and her sisters, Margaret and Marian. A lifelong resident of Highland Park, Barb was a passionate humanitarian who touched the lives of all who knew her. Guided by Christian values, she was a role model to her nieces and nephews, and she proudly preserved the Swedish traditions passed down by her parents.
Throughout her life, Barb was an adventurer at heart. She loved downhill skiing out west, cycling, and playing golf until she was 85 years old. Travel was a joy, especially when shared with family and friends. After retiring, she devoted time to volunteering at Heller Nature Center and was an active member of the Highland Park Garden Club and The Over the Hill Gang. Barb also had a deep affection for dogs, particularly black labs. Barb had a distinguished career as the head orthopedic nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she worked for many years. Her family and friends knew her for her unwavering support, nurturing spirit, and the positivity she radiated. Her love for others was boundless, and her dedication to those she cared for made her an inspiration to all who knew her.
