Barbara Lynn Singer Gershman was a true Singer. She like the rest of us could not carry a tune but she was a quiet, determined warrior. She fought a valiant battle for five years against a disease that should have triumphed over her in less than one. Like her mother and father, her courage was undeniable.
She was, however, so much more than just these past five years. When Mom passed away in 1993, Bobbie became the Matriarch of the Singer clan. She was the organizing force ensuring that every holiday or birthday was dutifully celebrated. When difficulties occurred, there was always one person who would be leading the way to overcoming adversity.
She will be missed by so many for so many reasons. But for her family what was lost this week was the central pillar of what made us who we are.
