Barbara N. Giallombardo

Barbara Noela Giallombardo passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 8, 2024. She is survived by her three beloved children, Debbie, Lynn, and Douglas, who will deeply miss her for the rest of our days-and her cherished granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kristyn Nivins. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 64 years, Louis Giallombardo, her loving parents, Marion and Benjamin Budnick, and her so very loved brother, Robert Budnick.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Barbara met the love of her life, Louis, when they were teenagers-when his best friend asked him to take care of her while the friend went into the service. The rest is history, as they fell in love and spent the rest of their lives together, raising their family in New City, NY.
Barbara was always so loved by her family and friends. She was an amazing listener with a loyal, compassionate heart. When someone was in pain, her heart hurt too. Mom was always there for us, a touchstone through both the joyous and the challenging times in our lives.
She was also the life of the party, making everyone laugh at our dad's American Legion events while spelling out Mickey Mouse with her body while the song played. She and Louis hosted many special Christmas Eve parties for the neighborhood when the kids were young-with Louis as head chef and the ever-charming Barbara as our beautiful social butterfly, welcoming everyone in to celebrate together. And we loved dancing the polka with her at all of our summer block parties.
Our family, through our ups and downs, always belly laughs when together. Mom and her warm wit was a huge part of that laughter. Although Alzheimer's robbed her of her last years, thankfully glimpses of Barbara always shone through. She was a special soul who touched so many people throughout her long life. To put it simply, she is unforgettable.
We celebrate Barbara now, her life and her love, her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her beautiful eyes and smile. And we also share the beauty of her passing to her ultimate peace.
