Webster, NY – John Dominic Giallombardo, a dedicated family man, passionate musician, and lifelong servant to both faith and science, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in Webster, NY, at the age of 79. He was born on December 7, 1945, in Rochester, NY.
John's life was defined by an extraordinary commitment to his pursuits and to the people he loved. He was a dedicated professional, spending an incredible 58 years at Bausch & Lomb in Rochester, NY, where he held various Quality and Engineering roles related to global Contact Lens Development and Manufacturing and was well known as "John G". His intellectual curiosity was reflected in his diverse educational background, holding a BS in Chemistry from St. John Fisher, an MS in Statistics from RIT, and an MS in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Brockport.
Beyond his scientific career, John embraced his calling as a Mental Health Counselor for over 30 years, most recently providing free services through local churches.
His greatest passion, however, was music. John was a devoted classical tenor, meeting the love of his life, Louise, while singing in the St. Francis choir as a young adult. He pursued his talent through many years of voice lessons with Christopher Jones at the Hochstein School of Music, and enjoyed singing with his wife in church choirs, at weddings and funerals, and also with the Gregory Kunde Chorale, and in Hochstein musical performances and recitals. His family will fondly remember the classical music he loved to sing and whistle while at home.
John's life was guided by an abiding faith in Jesus Christ, which was the root of his remarkable character. He was a man of conviction-firm in his beliefs yet consistently gentle and compassionate in his interactions. Friends and family will remember his loving nature and his unwavering commitment to treating every person he encountered with dignity and respect. He was deeply involved in many ministry organizations and Bible studies, including serving as an assistant teaching director with Community Bible Study.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Louise (Scuderi) Giallombardo; his three devoted children: Michael Giallombardo and his wife Lara, Andrea Siverling and her husband Tom, and Stephen Giallombardo. He was the cherished grandfather of Adrianna Giallombardo and Dominic Giallombardo. He is also survived by his nephew Daniel Giallombardo and niece Lisa Case and her husband Chris. He also leaves behind many cherished friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gioacchino and Mary (Traina) Giallombardo, and his brother, Joseph P. Giallombardo.
Family interment was private.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Anthony Funeral Home, 1031 Ridge Road, Webster, NY. The Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John's favorite organizations, Asian Concerns International, Community Bible Study, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Wilmot Cancer Institute.
