Barbara Jeanne Goodwin

Barbara 'Jeanne' Goodwin, born 1947 in San Francisco, CA, but raised in Bakersfield, CA, and resided there for the majority of her life.

Jeanne was married to Everett Goodwin for more than 30 years at the time of his passing in 2001. She worked at AlphaBeta Supermarket in various capacities for over a decade.

Everett and Jeanne were foster parents to more than 50 children. The couple had three daughters, then went on to adopt four children, one daughter, and three sons. Jeanne is survived by her seven children and many grandchildren.

Jeanne was a dedicated member of the Order of Eastern Star, with her husband, Everett, serving as Worthy Matron of the Bakersfield Chapter of Eastern Star twice, and was a recipient of the Rob Morris award. She enjoyed volunteering at the Kern County Food Bank alongside her husband and, later in life, assisting with meals at the Downtown Bakersfield Masonic Temple.

Jeanne is remembered by those who knew and loved her as collecting frog figurines, being an active volunteer and homemaker, and enjoying the Christmas season with her husband, Everett, who was Santa in the Downtown Bakersfield Christmas Parade for 17 years.

A viewing will be held at the Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave, on Wednesday, January 28, from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM.

Memorial services will also be held at the Mission Family Mortuary on Thursday, January 29, at 11:00 AM, with a graveside service to follow at 1:00 PM at the Greenlawn Cemetery NE, 3700 River Blvd.
