Barbara Ann Greene was born December 29, 1937 in Brockett, ND to parents Harold and Francis
Johnson. She lived in Brockett, ND until 1952, when the family moved to Greenville, IA. Barb attended
and graduated from Greenville-Rossi School. Barb married James Greene in January 6, 1957 at the
Friends Church in Greenville, IA. They farmed many years in the Greenville and Sioux Rapids, IA area
until 1985, when they moved to Corpus Christi, TX. Barb worked in retail sales for a few years, then
eventually became a cafeteria manager for the Corpus Christi School system, where she retired in 2000.
In that same year, Jim and Barb became full time RVer’s, spending winters in McAllen, TX and summers
in Webb, IA. In 2009, they built a home in Webb and discontinued full-time RVing. Barb was a member
of the Greenville Friends Church and most recently attended the United Methodist Church in Webb.
Barb enjoyed any event involving family, including camping, golfing, and farming. But most of all, she
enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barb will be remembered for her
incredibly kind heart, her sense of humor, and quick wit. Barb passed away on Friday, December 1,
2023, surrounded by family. She will be deeply missed by her children Ben Greene (Karen) of Webb, IA,
Lori Smith (Tom) of Storm Lake, IA, Rick Greene (Lisa) of Quitman, TX, and Gary Greene (Deneen) of
West Middlesex, PA, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, her sister
Bev Eidsness of Lakota, ND and her brother Robert Johnson of Portland, ME., as well as other relatives
and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband James L. Greene, her parents Harold and Francis Johnson,
sister Karen Johnson, and brother Harlan Johnson.
