Barbara DuPree Hall, 86, of Calhoun, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gordon Couty, Georgia on August 17, 1937, to the late Avery S. and Pluma Chastain Preist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimi Hall, and the father of her children, Ernest DuPree.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina DuPree and Aletia DuPree; sister, Peggy Allen; grandchildren, James Zachary Carrier, Olivia (David) Bloom, Sarah Ashley Carrier; soon to be great-granddaughter, Everly Grace Bloom; special cousin, Belva DuPree Swably; nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Ms. Barbara, as she was known to the community, was a dedicated and successful businesswoman and entrepreneur. She owned and operated Gina Linn Style Shop for many years. She loved to cook and feed people, especially Sunday dinners. She and her husband, Jimi, owned and operated the Cream Celler, in the Gordon Hills Shopping Center, and later, B.J.’s Restaurant in Calhoun. Ms. Barbara would open the doors and say, "Come on in, we got a good dinner today!" She loved her community and enjoyed serving and fellowshipping with her customers. Ms. Barbara was a true southern lady.
Ms. Barbara loved her grandchildren and was looking forward to her first great-grandchild. She was a strong woman of faith and a member of Calhoun Community Church. In the past year she had profound visions of Heaven, and of meeting Jesus. He told her she had been too busy in her life, but that it was ok. He wanted her to tell others to not be so busy, because He is coming back soon. Ms. Barbara will be greatly missed by those that loved her.
