We celebrate the life and legacy of Barbara Ann Harrel, who passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Highland Falls, New York, on October 26, 1943, Barbara was a woman of remarkable intellect, deep faith, and unwavering dedication.
Barbara earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Fordham University in 1965-a trailblazer in her time. She went on to build a successful and respected career as a supervisor in various chemical production departments across New Jersey and New York. Her intelligence and leadership left a lasting impact on the teams she worked with, and she retired with great pride in all she had accomplished.
Barbara shared her life with her devoted husband, William A. Harrel, a retired plant controller and ordained Baptist minister. Together, they made homes in several states over the years, including Burnt Hills, New York, where they spent six meaningful years while Bill served in ministry, and later in Pennsylvania, where he continued his pastoral work through three interim assignments. Eventually, they made their retirement home in Ocala, Florida.
Though Barbara and Bill did not have children together, their lives were rich in faith, purpose, and companionship. Barbara was known for her sharp mind, her strong presence, and the quiet wisdom she carried into every room. She was deeply respected and deeply loved.
A memorial gathering to honor Barbara's life will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00 AM, at Roberts of Ocala Funeral Home – Downtown Chapel, 606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala, Florida 34471.
Barbara's life was a testament to strength, intelligence, and grace. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
