Barbara Jean Hensley-Hounshell, 82, passed away peacefully in
Middletown, Ohio on January 20, 2026. She was born on February 21,1943 to the late Reed, Sr. and Clarinda (Barnett) Hudson in
Jackson, Kentucky.
Barbara adored spending time with her grandchildren. She loved growing flowers and strawberries, traveling to see loved ones in Kentucky, playing the piano, and worshipping the Lord through singing her favorite hymns. More than anything, she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She modeled God's love through selflessly pouring out herself on behalf of others. Her greatest desire was that all her loved ones would share in her faith and one day spend eternity with Jesus.
Barbara is survived by her children, Tangela Oaks, Tanya (Gary) Miller, Jeffery Reed (Nicole) Oaks, and Joshua Wayne (fiancé Amy Marie Creech) Hensley; grandchildren Daniel Reed Helsinger, Brittany Lee (James) Allen, Graci Jean Louise Oaks, Brayden Reed Oaks, Makenna Jean Hensley, and Paige Gloria Hensley; great-grandchildren Ethan Daniel Helsinger, Abigail Marie Helsinger, Theodore James Allen, and William David Allen. She is also survived by her sister, Louise Hudson Jett; numerous nieces and nephews; and neighbors and close friends, Tim and Sharon Taylor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, David Paul Hounshell, and her brothers, James Ronald, William Roy, Reed Jr., and Steven Virgil Hudson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nurses Care, Middletown Hospice and Ohio Hospice of Butler and Warren County for their exceptional care for Barbara during her final years and then weeks. Also, thanks to Tim and Sharon Taylor for being such a big help to Barbara following her husband's passing in 2013.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm at Baker Stevens Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Ave,
