Barbara Herndon Obituary
Barbara Hester Herndon, 83, of Spotsylvania County, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Donald Ray Herndon; daughter Donna Herndon Gaul (Pete) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Barbara loved her family dearly and took great delight in her two grandsons: Andrew (Clara) and Phillip (Rachel); and her great-granddaughter Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chancellor "Bob" and Callie Hester; and her brothers Chancellor Hester (Judy), and Lynwood Hester (Diana).
Barbara worked as a laboratory technician until her retirement from Mary Washington Hospital in 1998.
In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, antiquing, and shopping with her daughter. She also loved her family vacations spent at the beach where she read by the ocean and hunted for seashells.
Barbara was an active member of Good Hope Church, serving on numerous committees during her church life. She lived her faith and will be greatly missed.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Good Hope Church, Spotsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Hope Church Cemetery Fund.

Donald, we are so sorry to hear about Barbara. I wish we were to be there to see you. Maureen and I were both in the hospital at that time.we both will be praying for you. Take care hope to see soon.
