Barbara Jean Hill, born on July 30, 1942, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025. She lived a vibrant life, marked by a career as a switchboard operator for 25 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Stonecrest Medical Center. Known for her feisty and no-nonsense demeanor, Barbara also possessed a wonderful sense of humor that endeared her to many. She was a loving individual, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.

Barbara had a deep love for her family, and her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Granny." She embraced her role as a grandmother with joy, and treasured the times spent with her beloved grandchildren. In addition to her passion for family, Barbara also enjoyed crocheting and doted on her furry companion, Angel, who brought her immense happiness.

Barbara is survived by her children, Robert Joseph Hill, Jr. (Mary), Tammy (Joel) Luckett, and John “Tommy” (Shawna) Hill. She was the cherished grandmother to Jessica (Seth), Christine (Jade), Heather (Justin), Sara (KC), Robert (Jenny), John (Kelsie), and Matthew (Shannon), and she took great pride in her sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dan Hawkins (Doris).

Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Mr. Robert Joseph Hill, Sr., who she missed dearly, along with her parents, John and Mabel Hawkins, and her siblings, Donald Hawkins and Gale White.

The Hill family invites friends and loved ones to gather in memory of Barbara for visitation on May 13, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on May 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN. A Celebration of Life will follow on May 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.

Barbara Hill's spirit, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
