In honor of Mrs. Barbara Ann Hines, affectionately known as "Sue" by her loved ones. Born on March 14, 1957, in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. William "Pool" Stancil and the late Mrs. Barbara Jean Stancil. Barbara departed this life at Greenville Health and Rehab Center in
Greenville, NC, on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024. She was preceded in death by three brothers: William Jr, Larry, and John; and two sisters Shirley and Patricia.
Barbara was raised in the farming community of Pitt and Martin Counties and was a proud graduate of North Pitt High School, class of 1976. On December 1st, 1978, she married the love of her life, the late Mr. Bobby Ray Hines. Their marriage was the cornerstone of her life, and everything revolved around her family. Barbara's life and love served as an example for all who knew her and her family.
During her life, Barbara loved spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren. She welcomed anyone who stopped by her home for a personal visit, leaving behind countless memories filled with laughter, love and on occasions a good fussing. She will be treasured by her family and friends and will be truly missed.
Barbara began her career earlier than most, assisting her father, Mr. Pool, during harvest time with a variety of crops alongside her nine siblings. She started working at Blue Bell Sewing in Bethel, NC, and later at Perdue Chicken in Robersonville, NC. However, she truly found her passion at Sara Lee Bakery in Tarboro, NC, where she worked as a Team Lead in the Pre-Scale department until her health would no longer allow her to do so.
In her spare time, Barbara loved to plant flowers, she was especially fond of roses, and enjoyed watching them grow and flourish. She also had a passion for cooking and baking sweet treats for her family. Barbara also enjoyed sewing. She was able to excel as a seamstress, and she made many articles of clothing for the family. Shopping was her most favorite pastime; she had a knack for finding great sales, bargains and loved any and all shopping trips, looking for home decor.
She is survived by her three children: Quentin (Shirley) Hines of Charlotte, NC, Stacy Hines of
Greenville, NC, and Lance Hines of
Greenville, NC. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Shakara Hines, Samari Hines, Quentin Hines, Jr., Lance Hines, Jr., Jayceon Hines, and Autumn Hines; six siblings, Leoria Tillery of Anniston, AL, Clotee Stancil of Washington, DC, Delores (Milton) Staton of Robersonville, NC, Mitchell (Joyce) Stancil of Bethel, NC, Madge Stancil of
