Douglas Bullock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory - Greenville on Feb. 26, 2026.
Douglas Gene Bullock (Doug), 63, of Belvoir passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of service, hard work and devotion to those he cared about most.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 28th at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson, NC.

He was born in Bethel, NC on April 25, 1962 and lived his entire life on the family farm in the Belvoir community. Doug graduated from North Pitt High School in 1980 and married his wife in 1982. After high school he continued farming alongside his parents, as he'd done as a teenager, for more than 18 years until their retirement in 1990. He then worked for Agri Supply for nearly 20 years, where his farming experience and work ethic earned him the respect and friendship of coworkers and customers alike.

For 30 years, Doug served his community as a second-generation firefighter with Belvoir Volunteer Fire Department, including several years in various officer roles including assistant chief. His dedication and willingness to answer the call to serve his community, at any hour made a lasting impact on countless lives, including his son who followed Doug's footsteps into a career in the fire and EMS service. He exemplified what it meant to serve others with humility and played a big role in recruiting and training many of the past and current leaders of the fire department.

One of Doug's greatest joys was supporting his son's racing hobby for 12 years. Doug spent countless hours by his side preparing the various race cars, from go-karts to late model stock cars, teaching him both a strong work ethic and offering guidance, encouragement and unwavering support. Those years in the shop and the race track created cherished memories and reflected the deep love he had for his family.

Whether working in the yard, building and repairing things, fishing, or caring for his dogs, he found peace and satisfaction in staying busy and doing what he loved. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and close friends, sharing stories, laughter and the simple moments that meant the most. He will always be remembered for his generous heart and dedication to both his community and family. His legacy of service, love and hard work will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Preceding him in death are his parents, James and Mattie Bullock and a sister, Dianne Bullock. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Bullock of Aurora; son, Chad Bullock of Belvoir; sister Phyllis Adams and Mike of Belvoir.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a charitable donation in Doug's memory to: Belvoir Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 57, Falkland, NC 27827.
