A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, December 13 at 11 am at His Vision Ministry, 1901 Anaconda Rd., Tarboro, NC 27886. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Julie was a graduate of North Pitt High School and was employed as an animal tech at East Carolina University, where she assisted with medical research. On October 10, 1981, she married Billy Briley and they enjoyed many happy times together. Julie loved riding horses and going on trail rides.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Whitehurst, bonus son, Donnie Wayne Briley, and sister-in-law, Pam Whitehurst.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Billy Briley; mother, June Whitehurst of Tarboro; bonus children, Billie Lynn Thompson (Jay), and Bobbie Jo Abrams (Jerry), all of Pinetops; grandchildren, Bridget Nichols (Justin), Freddie Lane Webb (Alison), Caleb Thompson, Hali Lassiter (Dillon), Kasi Pavelka, Jaxon Abrams, Molly Briley, Harley Abrams, Jarin Abrams, and Nate Webb; six great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Whitehurst; sister, Diane Whitehurst; many special friends; and "Tina Squaws".
