Vernon Ray Brown was born on September 7, 1952 in Greenville, NC to Judge Lee Brown and Helen Hopkins Brown. He departed this life on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

Vernon as he was affectionately called was educated in Pitt County Schools and graduated from North Pitt High School in 1972. He was employed with East Carolina University where he retired.

Vernon attended New Beginning Baptist Church, Stokes, NC and joined in 2022.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Lee Brown and Helen L. Brown; sister, Gloristeen Brown; brother, Roy M. Brown; sister, Patricia A. Brown.

Vernon leaves to celebrate his memories a devoted and loving wife, Christine Brown of Robersonville, NC; his children, Debra Ebron (Hyman) of Greenville, NC, Mary Everette of Greenville, NC, Eddie Acklin (Jacqueline) of Williamston, NC, Stewart Acklin (Takeisha) of Chocowinity, NC, Jessica Brown of Robersonville, NC, Erica of Virginia; siblings, Judge Brown, Jr of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Alice M. Howard of Brooklyn, NYC, Helen R. Bullock (Dan) of Greenville, NC, Robert E. Brown (Minnie) of Bethel, NC, Clarence Brown of Aurora, Colorado; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
