Barbara Ann Hirt, of Shelby Twp., passed away on Wednesday. October 22, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on January 25, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Henry and Frances Hirt. Beloved sister of David (Angela) and Susan (the Late Jim) Kraus. Loving Aunt to Julianne (Dave) Muhleck, Angela Hubert, David Hirt, Catherine Kraus Nay, Cyndi Morrill, and Spencer (Ally) James. Adoring Great Aunt to Zetta, and Wynne Morrill, Samatha and Anthony Nay, Preston and Alistir James and many other great nieces and nephews.
Barbara attended St. Hyacinth Grade School in Poletown Detroit and went on to graduate from Pershing High School in Detroit. Barbara worked for a total of 41 years with GE Carboloy/ Seco Corporation. Barbara enjoyed traveling in her younger years from Hawaii to Maine to parts of Canada. In retirement, Barb turned to gardening, cardmaking, and word puzzles to fill her time. Most importantly, she loved her cats and they loved her. Barbara was a devout Catholic and practiced her faith at St. Lawrence Church in Utica where she was also a proud member of the Alter Society. Barbara also enjoyed her social activities with the Utica Pioneers and made many friends there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Lawrence Church in Utica, MI. Barb will lie in state starting at 9:30am until the time of mass. Family and friends can visit on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 1:00 - 7:00 pm at Wasik Funeral Home (49150 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Twp. 48315). A rosary will be shared at 4:00pm on Wednesday. Barbara will be laid to rest in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Utica, MI.
Barbara was a dearly loved women who will be missed by all who knew her.
