Jasper, Tennessee

Barbara Holloway went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at age 90.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Harold Holloway; her parents, Bill and Marie Runyon; and her brother, Tommy Runyon.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenton and Susie Holloway; her granddaughter, Melissa Holloway Stout and husband Eric Stout; great-grandsons, Neyland, Knox and Summitt Stout; and sister-in-law, Wanda Runyon; niece, Jennifier Workman and her husband, Jerry; and great-nephew, Logan Workman.

She was a 1952 graduate of Marion County High School and worked for 25 years in two local banks. She also worked for many years in her mother's U. S. Variety Store on Jasper Square. She wrote a column for many years for the Jasper Journal and Marion County Newspaper entitled "A Bit of Jasper History".

She had been a faithful member of Jasper First Baptist Church since childhood. She loved Sunday School and taught classes from Primary to Senior Adults. She was recognized at the 2017 Homecoming Celebration as the longest active member. Her church was always her main interest.

She was instrumental in helping organize the Jasper History Museum and served on the board. She served as a Grand Marshal in the 2013 Christmas parade. Her favorite hobby was refurnishing and selling antiques. She operated a booth at the 127 Yard Sale for many years.

The love of her life was her Lord and His church, her husband and family, and her hometown, Jasper. Her favorite Bible verse 2 Chronicles 7:14.

A special thanks to her long-time faithful friends: Lisa Layne, Ginny Martin, Peggy Parker, Karen Baxter, Renee Looney, Betty Wills, Bett Carson, Andi Balckburn, Beth Jordan, Callie Webb, and the Gleaner Sunday School Class of Jasper First Baptist.
