Barbara Jean Howansky passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, after a long illness. Her Savior decided she had fought that battle long enough and brought her home.
Barbara was a native of Baton Rouge, LA. She relocated to South Carolina 35 years ago and considered it home. She loved her family unconditionally. She also loved to travel and would use the smallest reason (or no reason at all) to take a trip. She earned her nursing degree at age 45. This was one of the proudest days of her life. Barbara attended Life Tabernacle.
Barbara is survived by her children: David Maness (Katie), Sandra Dixon, and Amy Martinez; grandchildren: Matt (Brittany), Aubrey (Kylie), Austen (Nichole), Blake (Jordan), Ben (Samantha), and Chelsea (Jacob); great-grandchildren: Emmett, Everett, Raelynn, Ava, Marlee, Emerson, Ella, Sawyer, Paisley, Bentley, Tinsley, and Coley; brothers: Don Shelton (Anne), Paul Shelton (Velma), and Keith Shelton (Tracy); sisters: Hope Elmore (Glen) and Cindy Cooper (Joe); and special family friend: Brian Whitney.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James Donald Shelton and Mamie Robertson; brothers: Richard Shelton, Wayne Shelton, and George Shelton.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Davenport Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Davenport Funeral Home with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are accepted.
The family is at their respective homes.
