Barbara Hughes Obituary
She married Gillum Hughes on May 28, 1955, and he preceded her in death. Together they owned and worked side by side at Moore Funeral Home in La Monte for over 30 years.
She is survived by four children; Ann (Shelia) Hughes, Kathy Elwell, Tom (Barb) Hughes of La Monte, and Jeanne Waters of Sedalia; Grandchildren, Brad (Jessie) Elwell and Keith Elwell of La Monte, Daniel (Crystal) Hughes of Knob Noster, Brooke (Tim) Hughes-Muse of Vermont and Grant Waters New York; Great-grandchildren, Keely and Ivy Elwell of La Monte, Willow, Rowan, Danny and Magnolia Hughes-Muse of Vermont, Sutton, Lyra (McGrady) Hughes of Knob Noster. She is also survived by brothers and sister LeRoy (Vera) Harrison, Martha Jo Harbaugh, David (Bessie) Harrison along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; Teresa Forbes, Francis (Skinny) Harrison, Louise Harpstrite, Rosie Wiskur and Ruthie Atkinson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the La Monte Christian Church and will be followed with a funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Brad Elwell, Daniel Hughes, Grant Waters, Trey Dove and Jim Tyler.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the La Monte Christian Church, La Monte Cemetery or charity of the donor's choice.

My condolences to the Harrison family on the passing of Bean. While I only met Bean a few times, many years ago, my mother Ruby spoke very kindly of Bean (actually she liked all of LeRoy´s family). Bean and Gillum were very gracious and kind to my family when my mother passed in 1997. May Bean rest in peace...
