Grace D. "Gracie" Bouws, 66, of La Monte, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. She was born on March 20, 1959, in Sedalia, the daughter of Howard Elkins and Betty (Farris) Elkins, who preceded her in death.

On June 4, 1983, in La Monte, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Bouws, who resides in the home.

Gracie was a proud graduate of La Monte High School, Class of 1977. She began her career with La Monte Community Bank and later worked for Choice Hotels as the General Manager of the Comfort Inn in Marshall. After 22 years of dedicated service, she retired in 2023. Following her retirement, Gracie enjoyed working part-time in the Customer Service Department at Lowe's.

Gracie found joy in the simple, meaningful things, crocheting, reading, traveling, and making memories with the people she loved most. She especially treasured time with her grandson, Gunnar, who brought her endless pride and happiness. She also valued time with friends and looked forward to evenings out for dinner, especially with Paula Hughes.

In addition to her husband, Bill, Gracie is survived by her son, Kyle Bouws of La Monte; and her grandson, Gunnar Bouws.

In addition to her parents, Gracie was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Elkins.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

A private family burial will be held at Dresden Cemetery at a later date.
