James Edward Steele II, 74, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born April 11, 1951, in Sedalia, the son of James Edward Steele I and Stella (Young) Steele, who preceded him in death.
James was a proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1970. He dedicated many years of work as a forklift driver, first with Rival Manufacturing in Sedalia. After the plant's closing, he continued with Rival in Clinton, Missouri. Later, he worked for Ditzfeld Transfer, where he was known for being dependable and hardworking.
Outside of work, James enjoyed the simple things he loved most, bowling, fast-pitch softball, fishing, and deer hunting. He also enjoyed cheering on State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners basketball and spending time with friends.
James is survived by many cousins, including Shirley Laramie; and his good friends, Roy Poynter, Calvin Dillon, and Albert Emerson, all of Sedalia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.
It is requested that guests wear casual clothing.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Parks Department, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
