Barbara Irvin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home on Dec. 22, 2025.
Barbara J. Irvin, 62, of Shelocta, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at UPMC Passavant Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 10, 1963, In Indiana, PA to James and Patricia Irvin. She is survived by her mother, Patricia A. Irvin of Shelocta, children Chase L. Irvin of Shelocta, Kayla M. Irvin of Indiana, siblings Deborah L. (Wayne) Lizama, Susan A. (Jamie) Smith, Michael (Carolyn) Irvin, nephews, Christian and Austin Lizama, Noah and Joel Smith, and Logan Irvin; and grandchildren Oliver Z. Irvin and Noelle G. Irvin. She was preceded in death by her father, James T. Irvin.

Barbara was a graduate of Indiana High School and later earned a Certified Nursing Assistant credential. She enjoyed caring for ill patients (especially children) and spending time with family. She will be fondly remembered for her impeccable handwriting, toughness, work ethic, and willingness to help others in need. Above all, she will be remembered for her infectious smile and how she showered her grandchildren with love and affection.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff nurses and physicians of UPMC Passavant for their amazing care and compassion for Barb and the entire family during her battle. Barbara's peaceful transition from this world to the next would not have been possible without their grace and guidance.

A life celebration will be held at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to the John Lefdahl Funeral Home of Indiana, PA.

Praying for her entire family. Wished I would've seen her the last time I was home. Barb was a great friend, I wished we kept in better contact. Love to you all, Cherie.
