Mrs. Barbara Jackson, age 88, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. A graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15th, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, with Rev. Mike Cronin officiating.
A native of Inverness, Florida, Mrs. Jackson graduated with a bachelor's degree from Florida A&M, where she met the love of her life, Richard Edward Jackson. She then obtained her master's degree in education from the University of South Florida. Her passion for teaching led her to the Polk County School Board, where she taught for 36 years before retirement.
In 2004, Mrs. Jackson moved to Powder Springs, GA, to be closer to her grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church and found joy in knitting, crossword puzzles, reading the Bible, and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edward Jackson; her parents, Robert and Irene James; her brothers, Clarence E. James and Andrew L. James; and her sister, Dolores J. Wilson.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Cistress) Jackson of Powder Springs, GA; four grandchildren, Stephen Jackson, Ethan Jackson, Jared Jackson, and Micaela Jackson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and extended family members who cherished her deeply.
She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to education, and unwavering love for her family.
