Barbara Jacobs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory - Franklin Township Chapel on Sep. 29, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Barbara was born on August 14, 1935, to Ray and Sara Ashby.

She passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family and friends!

Barbara had just celebrated her 90th birthday. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wonderful friend. She had an incredible impact on anyone she met.

She is survived by her son Paul (Tracy) along with grandchildren Jill Jacobs, Tommy Jacobs (Casey) Sarah Jacobs(Chaz), Luna Jacobs, Mila Jacobs and great grandchildren Ava, Jonah, Charles, and Griffen all of whom will cherish the incredible memories with her. Proceeded by her husband Tom Jacobs, her soul mate and love of her life passed away in July of 2005. We know he has been waiting patently to spend eternity with her. Also proceeded by her youngest son Tim (Tami), a mother should never have to bury her son.

Barbara served her lord Jesus Christ through the gift of hospitality and servant hood. She never met a stranger and always looked for anyone she could help and made every one feel welcome.

One of the many things Barbara did in the name of servant hood was in 1968 to volunteer her family to clean the Bethany Pilgrim Holiness church for an entire year and donate the compensation back to the church building fund100%. In addition, she served with her husband Tom at the Indiana boy's school for over 25 years.

When Barbara and Tom married, they had no idea the adventure they would be on. Being a patriot Tom Joined the marines, deployed in the South China Sea with lifelong friend Ron Donavan, the adventures began. Meanwhile Barbara and lifelong friend Charline Donavan lived together waiting for the boys to return home. Unforgettable experiences came from this time, along with the two boys Paul and Tim.

Barbara's family was everything the world to her, losing Tom in 2005 and Tim in 2022 left scars that never healed. It made the relationship with her grandchildrenGreat grandchildren even more important to her.

Barbara was passionate about everything but here are some things that made her who she was. Her church and personal relationship with Jesus, being outside/Gardening, she was incredibly passionate about her trees, her plants, and the miracle of green grass, and for anyone that ever met her, Garage Sales. She became famous on the local garage sale circuit and was always ready to go to war about a price.

It would be remiss to leave out her 40-year passion for euchre and bowling, (in her 80's she was still bowling 300 games), and finally her beloved Indianapolis Colts.

Barbara was a person that genuinely cared, that was humble and lived life to its fullest every single day. She will be missed but, has left a legacy we should live up to, insuring she never be forgotten.

Services for Barbara are Saturday, October 4 at 12:00 noon at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Franklin Township Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband Thomas Jacobs at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Greenwood, Indiana follo
