Barbara Edna Jacobs, 91 years old, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan.
Barbara was born November 9, 1934, near Sticklerville, Missouri to Lester Long and Maurine (Pipes) Downen. On December 8, 1951, she married Dwight Jacobs in Laclede, Missouri, he preceded her in death in 2010. She was also preceded by a grandson, Will Jacobs; her brother, Jerry Long; half-brothers, Phil Long, Randy Long, Sam Long, and Delbert Downen; half-sisters, Leila Walsh, and Carol Hartz; stepfather, Raymon Downen; stepmother, Evelyn (Reger) Long; step sister, Dixie Maurer.
Barbara was survived by: Three sons, Jerry Jacobs and wife Debra Kay of Green City, Aaron Jacobs and wife Debra Sue of Smithville, Missouri, and Glen Allen Jacobs and wife Trena of Winigan, Missouri; Grandchildren, Justin Jacobs, Ora Jacobs, Melissa Jacobs, Asia Jacobs, Garrett Jacobs, Jacob Mittag, McKay Greer, Sam Jacobs, Jeb Jacobs, Bennet Jacobs, Jared Jacobs, and Mazie Jacobs; 17 Great grandchildren; Half-sisters, Marilyn Hanke, Kay Allbee, Cheryl Summers, Doris Ellis, and Sandy Randolph.
Barbara grew up in Western Adair and Eastern Sullivan counties, going to country schools. She worked at ConAgra for 16 years, while also raising cattle on their farm near Mystic. Barbara enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, and milking cows. She was a member of the Winigan Christian Church and was a past member of the Hearth and Home Club in Owasco, Missouri.
A visitation for Barbara will be held 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City with a graveside following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, East of Green City, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Olivet Cemetery or Green City Rural Fire Department.
