Barbara Ann Justice Enlow
On the afternoon of September 15, 2022, Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. Barbara
was 85 years old.
Barbara Ann Justice was born in Amarillo, Texas on June 24, 1937. She was the only child of Elsie Mae and John Ralph
Justice. Her father John worked for the United Nations, so Barbara started traveling at a young age. Her father John was
a Shriner, so Barbara joined "Jobs Daughter" where she was once crowned Honor Queen.
As a child Barbara grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she met a young man enlisted in the Air Force. When
he asked her to marry him, he said "you'll have to make me grits every day for breakfast", to which she whole heartily
agreed. Then she told Charles that she wanted to see the world, Charles agreed. When she got home, she asked her
mother "what are grits".
Barbara was an active member, holding many positions in ABWA (American Businesswomen's Association) Barbara
received a medal from ABWA for 20 years of never missing a meeting or function. Barbara was a Boy Scout leader and
she was also a Brownie leader.
She was a stained-glass artist and was invited to teach her craft in China back when tourists were not allowed into
China, you had to be invited, she traveled to China as an artist with Lois Snavely who traveled with Barbara to many
places in the United States and abroad. They went back to China 2 more times once they started allowing tourists.
Barbara sold her stained glass at craft shows in South Carolina and surrounding states.
Charles was only stationed four places, Spain, Texas, Kansas, and Myrtle Beach. Barbara worked on the base as a civil
service employee in accounting. Charles was stationed back to Myrtle Beach, which is where they were stationed the
first time. Dad said if the ever wanted to transfer him again he'd retire, and that's what he did, Mom retired when
Myrtle Beach Air Force Base closed and began traveling, she used her Stained-glass money to fund her trips. In addition
to China Barbara visited India, the Philippines, Australia, Turkey, New Zeeland, and at least 9 countries in Europe, if not
more.
So, Charles got his grits and Barbara got to see the world.
