Barbara Jill Kamont

Barbara Jill Kamont, a loving mother and esteemed advocate, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on July 28, 1953, Barbara's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passionate commitment to social causes.

Throughout her career, Barbara served as an assistant to a brokerage house, a role that allowed her to travel and explore the world, including a memorable journey to Japan which she cherished as one of her greatest achievements. Her professional endeavors were complemented by a vibrant personal life, as she embraced her love for the beach, horses, and the beauty of nature.

Professionally, Barbara studied to be a chiropractor, following in the footsteps of her father, Paul Barran. Barbara was not only a dedicated professional but also a compassionate individual who was deeply involved in her community. As a founding member of a rape and sexual assault organization in New York City, she tirelessly advocated for survivors and worked towards creating a safer environment for all. Her commitment to this cause highlighted her empathy and strength, qualities that many admired and respected.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Eric (Lisa) Kamont and Jason Kamont, and her grandchildren, Zachary and Tyson, who carry forward her legacy of love and advocacy. Barbara also leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is also survived by her wayward children that she adopted, who looked up to her as a loving mother.

Barbara's life was enriched by the love of her family, and her spirit will continue to inspire those around her. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lily and Paul, and her cherished siblings, Bruce, Barry, and Beverly, who have welcomed her with open arms.

As we remember Barbara, we celebrate her remarkable life filled with love, kindness, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in her journey.
