Barbara Kaplan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home on Dec. 20, 2025.
Barbara Nancy Kaplan, 67, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, with her family by her side.
Barbara was born on September 18, 1958, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Jack and Cynthia Glincman. At the age of seven, she and her family moved to North Plainfield, NJ, and later settled in Warren, where she grew up and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1976. In 1985, Barbara made Branchburg her home, where she lovingly raised her family.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Monmouth College, now Monmouth University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1980. Her dedication and determination allowed her to graduate early, completing her studies in just 3.5 years. Barbara went on to dedicate her career to the banking industry, holding various positions at North Plainfield State Bank, Valley National Bank, Midlantic National Bank, and City Federal Savings Bank. It was at City Federal Savings Bank in 1984 that she met the love of her life, Marc.
Barbara was deeply committed to her community. She was a former volunteer and president with the Branchburg Rescue Squad Fundraising Committee and a former member of Temple Sholom in Bridgewater, where she served as co-president of the Sisterhood. She was also a life member of Hadassah. Barbara shared her creativity for many years as the arts and crafts director at the Silver Saddle Swim Club.
In her leisure time, Barbara cherished being with family and friends. She found joy in cooking, baking, shopping, walking, couponing, reading, Sudoku, and volunteering. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Marc Howard Kaplan; her dear son, Jordan Kaplan and wife Jenna; her loving daughters, Lauren Sara Kaplan and fiancé Alex Perez, and Lena Beth Kaplan and fiancé Francis Durnien III. She is also survived by her brother, David Glincman and wife Tara, along with nieces and nephew Rebecca, Rachel, and Dylan; her brother-in-law David Kaplan and wife Mary, along with nephew Jason, his wife Marian, and their son Jacob, as well as niece Jessica; and her brother-in-law Leonard Kaplan and wife Robyn, along with nieces Lindsay and Danielle; as well as her mother-in- law Esther Kaplan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, located at 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville, NJ. Interment will follow at Temple Sholom Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.

My deepest sympathy to Barbara's family & friends. I was sad to hear about her passing. I met Barbara at the Steeplechase Cancer Center at various wellness & support programs. Also we attended The Relay for Life walk & the American Cancer Society Making Strides dinner. She had the best smile and a wonderful calming spirit. She will be missed so much.
