Barbara Kenville Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis-Becker Funeral Home - Struthers (AKA Davidson-Becker) on Mar. 30, 2026.
Struthers- Barbara Ann Kenville, 83, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026 at home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on May 03, 1942 in Struthers, a daughter to the late Harry and Louise (Lyon) Blewitt.

She spent her career as a warm and familiar voice to so many, serving as the last human voice at Youngstown State University before the system transitioned to an automated phone tree-something the university thoughtfully waited to do until her retirement. It was a fitting full-circle moment, as her working life began as a Bell girl, where her natural gift for conversation and connection first took root.

Barbara carried that same congenial spirit throughout her life. She was social and outgoing, the kind of person who never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Whether she was out with friends, enjoying a movie, or simply going about her day, she had a way of making people feel seen and comfortable in her presence.

She married early in life after meeting her first husband at the Holiday Bowl, beginning a chapter filled with shared experiences and memories. An active mother to her three sons, she served as the charter president of the Sterling Park, Virginia junior wrestling team. Over the years, she created an impressive catalogue of family scrapbooks. She earned a degree at Fullerton College in mathematics. She excelled at cards and backgammon and often gathered with friends for lively competition. Her competitive spirit perhaps enjoyed its finest day on August 28, 1977, when she had a hole-in-one on the 14th hole of the Sterling Golf Club in Virginia. Curious at heart, she appreciated travel and embraced every opportunity to explore, visiting many places over the years and collecting stories along the way.

Above all, she will be remembered for her warmth, her ease with people, and the genuine connections she made with everyone she encountered.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jeffery Kenville, Thomas (Jessica Cornish) Kenville, and Timothy (Wendy) Kenville; her grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas, Jessica, and Sophia Louise Kenville; her brothers, Harry "Bing" (Nancy) Blewitt, William (Jane) Blewitt, and Robert (Carol) Blewitt; her brother-in-law, Terry (Linda) Davids; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George William "Bill" Davids.

In accordance with Barbara's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Memorial donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 970 Windham Ct. Suite 9, Youngstown, Ohio 44512 in her memory.
