Barbara Klos Obituary
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and uncompromisingly radiant spirit, Barbara Jean Garland Klos, who died peacefully September 16th, 2025 in Wilmington, NC.
Born in New York on May 29,1931 at the height of the Great Depression, to Raymond H & Grace A Garland, she was an excellent student with a thirst for knowledge. She graduated from Mt St Ursula High School at the age of 16 and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from The College of New Rochelle at the age of 19. After a brief career as a teacher - including teaching deaf children - she married Harry E Klos, Jr in 1952 and enjoyed 45 years of family life raising her five children.
Her passions included family, music, reading and travel. As an avid reader, she consumed books by the armful. With family and friends, she sailed the seas on more cruise ships than one can imagine and could often be found enjoying the casino - although her passions lied more in the competition than gambling. But above all, she loved family gatherings! Between the singing, the stories, the dancing, and the laughter - the party didn't start until she walked in & she didn't leave until the last Hula was Hopped.
After the passing of her husband Harry in 1997, she had the pleasure of spending her Golden Years with Raymond H Caspary, a veteran of WWII and father of seven children.
She embraced life with a song in her heart - and her love was a melody that lifted the spirits and warmed the souls of all who knew her.
While she joins her parents, husband, and brothers Raymond Garland and William Garland, who preceded her in death, her memory remains vibrant and alive with her surviving family - her partner Ray Caspary, sons Christopher (Lynne) Klos, Timothy (Mitzi) Klos and Harry (Monique) Klos; her daughters Susan Klos and Carolyn (Charlie) Phelps. Five grandchildren-Daniel (Kelsey) Klos, Alexandra Klos, Tiffany (Robert) Clark, Callahan Klos and Cassidy Klos. And five great grandchildren- Denver, Ray, Brennan, Wyatt and Ava.
