I had not seen Barb in a while, but I did speak with after Thomas's stroke. As always she was hopeful, positive, and filled with deep faith that he would be okay. Barb was a great grandmother to the girls and always had ginger-bread (or ginger snap) cookies for them to enjoy. We had fun, the one time, going to the Yankees, and I admired her not only because of her faith, her resilience, her positivity, but she had a strong sense of social justice and care/concern for the world and her fellow man. I remember her first in my childhood, laughing up a storm with the ladies, downstairs while they played Bridge. And my Dad, who worked with her in the O.R. from time to time ...or at some point was very fond of her. Barb always tried to see the bright side; I enjoyed how she called Christmas presents (or birthday) 'prizes' ! And some of her quotes are memorable: "Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems." I am glad to have known her and may God bless her (and her family) always.

Personally, my Aunt Barb is the closest person to sainthood that I ever have known. She was always kind and giving of herself. She had a talent of knowing how to make awkward situations work out perfectly. She was excellent at making the right decisions when tough decisions were to be made.
One of these tough decisions was to insist my mother to help care for my father just prior to the time of his death. This was huge in my life and meant an awful lot to both of my parents and my siblings. At times of trouble, she always knew exactly what to do. To her children, my cousins, I thank you for so generously sharing your mom. She meant an awful lot to everyone, especially if you were family.

Barb was one of the best individuals ever. Kind, giving, generous. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Ongoing prayers for your whole family. love, Mary Gallagher
