Barbara Davis Ladner, age 51, of Wiggins, Mississippi, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 9, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary Frances Davis, and her father, L.B. “Freddie” Hartfield. Though their earthly journeys ended before hers, their reunion in Heaven is now complete.
Barbara leaves behind her devoted husband, Craig Ladner; her beloved children, James Ashton Mayes, Olivia Ray Pelto (Cole), and Raymond “Butterbean” Earl Hatten III; her treasured grandchildren, Anthony Mayes, Asher Mayes, and Eli William Ray; her siblings, William Davis, Bobby Davis (Mary), and Sue Rayburn (Ray); and a host of aunts, uncles, and dear friends whose lives were made richer by her presence.
Barbara’s heart was as big as the Mississippi sky. A woman of many gifts, she earned her Mississippi Funeral Director license, became a Notary and Hyperbaric Chamber Technician, and served faithfully in ministry. She began her career at Memory Chapel and later served with the Riemann Family Funeral Homes, always meeting families with compassion and grace. One of her most selfless callings was caring for her mother until her passing—an act that embodied love in its purest form.
She found joy in many of God’s creations—gathering around campfires, fishing on quiet waters, hunting, tending her garden, and cooking meals that nourished both body and soul. Her famous biscuits will be forever missed at family gatherings.
Barbara’s faith was her anchor, and her love was her legacy. She lived with a servant’s heart—giving freely, loving deeply, and making everyone feel seen and valued. Though her absence leaves a space no one can fill, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Amacker Cemetery, White Sand, Pearl River County, Mississippi.
