Barbara was born on September 28, 1935, in Olin, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Wilma (Murfield) McDonald. She was a 1954 graduate of McKinley High School. On March 5, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Earl Bruce Lagerquist in Cedar Rapids. Together, they had five children. Barbara was employed as a baker for the Cedar Rapids School District for many years, then she worked as a laborer at Rockwell Collins for over 16 years, before her retirement in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2017, Earl Lagerquist; sister, Corrine (Bill) Strong; brother, Doug McDonald; and brother-in-law, Chuck Collins. Memorials in Barbara's memory may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, the Mercy Center for Memory Health, or to the Encore Aging Luncheon at Lowe Park through the Heritage Area Agency. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara's care team including Cassidy, Carmen, April, and Chaplain Kyle, the staff at Oldorf Hospice House, Dr. Wilbur, Dr. Marquardt, and Lynette Smith, ARNP.
